LIVE WEBINAR: FUNDING CAT ASSESSMENTS - PRACTICAL STRATEGIES FOR LAWYERS AND CLINICIANS

Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM (via Zoom)

Speakers: Darcy Merkur, Partner, Thomson Rogers and
Dr. Lisa Becker, Physiatrist and Medical Director, Omega Medical Associates
Moderated by: Dr. Darrin Milne, Chiropractor, North York Injury Management

Accurate and comprehensive catastrophic impairment (CAT) assessments require fair and adequate funding. Yet many IME providers and lawyers encounter challenges with Section 25 assessment funding requests. This session will provide a practical, balanced discussion on how to navigate these barriers while maintaining transparency, professional integrity, and alignment with legislation. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how to support equitable access to assessments that support comprehensive evaluations.

This webinar will discuss the following:

  • Best practices for timing, structuring, and supporting CAT-related treatment and assessment plans to improve clarity and facilitate insurer review.
  • Strategic approaches to addressing partial or insufficient approvals within the accident benefits framework, including communication strategies and documentation considerations.
  • Solutions to ensure that multidisciplinary CAT assessments are appropriately funded, with guidance on articulating clinical justification, scope, and cost expectations of Section 25.
