The Medico-Legal Society of Toronto (MLST) was founded in 1950 by a group of physicians and lawyers. The purpose of the MLST has always been to promote medical, legal, and scientific knowledge and to encourage cooperation and understanding between the professions in the interests of justice, patients, and clients. |

The MLST Chain of Office contained gold pins for each President, dating back to 1950. In 2024, the Board decided to discontinue the tradition of the pins. Some Past Presidents have made donations to the MLST and have kept their pins as a memento, others have agreed that the MLST should sell the remainder. Funds raised will be directed to the Chain of Office Sub-Committee to provide recommendations to the Board for allocation of the funds. The Chain of Office continues with the impressive MLST Medallion as its focus.
